Going back in time, find some wonderful classics, and give them a contemporary/improvisational twist...
It gives her the greatest pleasure, fills her with joy, to be able to bring back these particular songs with a new, more contemporary perspective to an audience.


I would describe this music as "contemporary modal with a romantic twist" or perhaps "neo-Cool Jazz". It's VERY West Coast. Very much like Freddie Hubbard, Tony Williams, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy & Jackie McLean but in 2012.
Lyrical, good phrasing, nice rhythms but at the same time very approachable and listenable even for non jazz audiences. Post-Cool Jazz!!

"Whadeva", an album with Damani Butler, Maude Caillat, Billie Davies and produced by Billie & Mike Davies, release date set for July 24, 2020.

"Whadeva" It had not reached New Orleans yet, or so they thought. They had been prepping these recordings since late December, early January. Damani Butler contacted Billie Davies and Maude Caillat asking them whether they would be interested in doing a project with him. He also mentioned he had contacted female artists for this project. Both Billie Davies, an american drummer from California, and Maude Caillat, a sax player from Switzerland, were currently working and residing in New Orleans. Damani had rented a house in the Lower Ninth Ward, which became Dangerous Art Studios, and was busy transforming it into the whole house and whatever sounds in it, showed in it and whomever entered it, being part of a work of art he was creating. The project would be experimental, completely improvisational audio art.   The Musical Evolution of Billie Davies Miles Davis has been my greatest inspiration in my life as a professional musician and musical artist. Drummer  Billie Davies ' journey began in the north of Europe in coastal Belgium where she was born and raised. Davies was involved with two bands while living in Holland, in Terneuzen, a semi coastal port town. One band scored a lot of gigs with festivals and parties versus the other, who only played a few times in Belgium, in Bruges and in Blankenberge. She moved to the south of France near the Spanish border in Catalan or Basque Country, an area between Montpellier in Provence where there was a large Romani population. Davies was now surrounded by the tranquility that she always longed to be close to, which are palm trees. In Montpellier France, Davies met blues guitarist Claude Mazet.
